2.3 - Vendor Certification

PURPOSE

To define the practice with regard to vendor certification.

POLICY

SBA (Small Business Administration) vendors must complete a certification form indicating business size, type, and classification. The vendors may self-certify relative to size except for the Small Disadvantaged Business Status which needs to be verified through the Pro-Net Database at the Small Business Administration website.

The Purchasing Department will ensure that vendors do not appear in the U.S. Government Lists of Parties Excluded from Federal Procurement or Non-Procurement Programs.

Rensselaer will employ techniques to develop small and small disadvantaged businesses capable of providing the products and services needed by the Institute. (Please refer to the Small Business Policy and Procedure for additional information.)

PROCEDURE

Purchasing will request SBA vendors to complete a Vendor Certification Form.

The information received from the vendors will be entered into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)System.
