PURPOSE

To define the procedure to obtain narcotics for laboratory use.

POLICY

Procurement of narcotics for laboratory use requires a fully executed Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Form 222. It is the responsibility of the DEA registrant to adhere to all DEA regulations.

Narcotics may not be ordered or purchased by the use of a Limited Purchase Order, Purchasing Card, Petty Cash reimbursement or campus-wide blanket order.

PROCEDURE

Requisitions for narcotics for laboratory use must be submitted directly to the Purchasing Department, marked "Controlled Item", and be accompanied by the fully executed DEA Form 222.

Purchasing will process a purchase order.
