4.6 - Insurance

PURPOSE

To define the insurance requirements for vendors performing work on the premises of Rensselaer.

POLICY

Before any work can be performed on Rensselaer premises, evidence of current and valid insurance naming Rensselaer as an additional insured must be in the possession of the Rensselaer Department of Risk Management.

Before vendors can begin performing work on Rensselaer premises, they must provide a Certificate of Insurance in accordance with the following provisions:

  • Commercial General Liability
    $2,000,000.00 - Occurrence
    $2,000,000.00 - Aggregate
  • Automobile Liability
    Including owned, non-owned and hired autos:
    $1,000,000.00 - Combined single limit
  • Workers Compensation
    As required by
    New York State law.

 

Independent Contractors/Consultants must provide a Certificate of Insurance in accordance with the following provisions:

  • Commercial General Liability
    $1,000,000.00 - Occurrence
    $1,000,000.00 - Aggregate
  • Automobile Liability
    Including owned, non-owned and hired autos:
    $1,000,000.00 - Combined single limit
  • Workers Compensation
    As required by
    New York State law.

PROCEDURE

Purchase orders will contain the above provisions and the Purchasing Department will ensure that the requirement is fulfilled before releasing the order.
