America's 25 million small businesses employ more than 50 percent of the private work force, generate more than half of the nation's gross domestic product, and are the principal source of new jobs in the U.S. economy.
Rensselaer's Small Business Procurement program encompasses small, minority, disadvantaged, women, HUBZone and service disabled veteran businesses. As a research institution, it is critical for Rensselaer to expand its relationships with these business types. Federal contracts of $500,000 or more require submittals to the awarding agency on Rensselaer's plans to make awards to these businesses. On a socially responsible level, Rensselaer's commitment to diversity should be reflected in our supplier base. These pages are intended to inform as well as provide tools to do that. REMEMBER, that it will require the effort of all of us to propel Rensselaer to the forefront of small business development. |
